DISTILLED WATER

Due to a probable incompatibility with some PC liquid cooling solutions and some of the materials used in the cooling loop, we recommend to use distilled water only.

PC LIQUID COOLING SOLUTIONS WITH ADDITIVES

Due to a known incompatibility between some PC cooling fluids and the PC/ABS plastic connectors used in XMG OASIS (Mk. 1, Rev. 1), we expressly advise against using PC cooling fluids with anti-corrosion, anti-freezing or other additives.

In a new revision (Mk. 1, Rev. 2) these PC/ABS components have been replaced by components made of POM (polyoxymethylene). These components are resistant to the usual additives in cooling liquids. Nevertheless, we still advise against using coolants with additives for the following reasons:

1) According to some reports, cooling solutions with aggressive additives have been able to corrode the copper heatpipe in the laptop.

2) We can not guarantee for all kinds of liquid cooling solutions in the markets as they may have unknown additives that may have unknown side effects on the various materials in the cooling loop.

3) Even aside from defects or wear, liquid can occasionally leak out, which means that corresponding additives/chemicals can come into contact with the skin, desk or utensils. Common PC cooling liquids are not acutely harmful to health if they come into contact with the skin, but they should not get into the eyes, for example. A safety data sheet of EK CryoFuel with a list of the additives contained and safety instructions can be found here. Other PC cooling liquids have similar recipes.

Liquid may escape in droplets when disconnecting the hoses from the laptop. Larger amounts may also leak if the screw caps on the front of the XMG OASIS cooling unit are not fully screwed down.
